Facts in Motion

Hey gossip readers, today’s tea is on explainer videos. By the end of this blog post, you will understand how explainer videos can be an effective form of visual storytelling. But first, why is learning this storytelling method useful? Because not only is it entertaining to see, it’s fun to create! I will explain the importance and process of creating such a video to help you get your facts in motion to release some gossip explanations!
How explainer videos are an effective form of storytelling
As gossip lovers, we know we only pay attention to someone’s tea when it’s exciting or has visuals to their story. It’s the same principle with explainer videos! To make a compelling explainer video, you must combine audio and visuals, whether images, text or videos, to explain a concept. The multitude of visuals also helps increase message retention. For example, the video you see on your screen before the plane leaves is an explainer video showing what to do if the plane makes an emergency landing. So whether you are catching flights or spilling tea, explainer videos effectively communicate information to those around us.
Most enjoyable and challenging parts of the process
Try to spill the tea on a long dramatic story while keeping things interesting. There are some challenging parts in that process, such as clearly visualizing the information. During my process of creating the explainer video, the most challenging part was editing the video. Due to the pandemic, my school cancelled our editing class because the software was on school computers, so this was my first time using Premiere Pro. Despite the videos, it took me a lot of practice before understanding how to add an image in an image or to add audio… Not to discourage you, this process is equally delightful, as writing the script was the most entertaining part of my day. Essentially, I was writing as if I was spilling tea out loud and practicing my way of storytelling. Now go out, film your explainer video, and update me on your process!
My explainer video
As gossip lovers, we read, hear and live for gossip. Contrarily, others wish to avoid being the topic of conversation, so they conform to the majority’s opinion. For my project, I created an explainer video on ‘groupthink.’ I explained this concept through one of our favourite gossip movies, Mean Girls. The most famous quote, “on Wednesdays we wear pink,” effectively demonstrated ‘groupthink.’ Cady Heron was “fitting in” with the group by wearing pink.
By now, I’m sure you gossip lovers understand how to create an explainer video. But, of course, don’t let your tea go to waste, so go out and film an explainer video!
