Hey, trendsetters! Let’s spill the tea on everything glitz and glams during AMTI’s final Canadian showcase.

What can be fancier than a grand entrance on a red carpet? That’s right. Founder Angie Sakla-Seymour went all out with the glamour as models walked down the red carpet to enter the Canadian War Museum — where the event took place.

As you enter the building, models and guests alike get the opportunity to take their picture in front of an AMTI background or the 360 video booth for a 10-second clip of your best poses! Look below at my video to see how cool this booth was!

I attended this event with my dad, and we had a few moments before the show to socialize with other attendees. I sat next to television host Katrina Turnbull. I got to speak about journalism with her, and she wished me a few encouraging words about the industry!

And then, the moment we’ve all been waiting for-the show begins! CTV news anchor Stefan Keyes takes the stage, building up the excitement as he introduces Founder Angie Sakla Seymour. Despite having previously mentioned her name, let’s delve into the mystery of who she is. Keyes paints a vivid picture of her, showering her with empowering compliments; a strong woman in business, a powerful force, and a strength to be reckoned with.

As AMTI is an acting and modelling agency, the event marked its debut with performances from actors, including monologues, musical theatre and poetry, before continuing to its fashion show to showcase the models.

Next, hundreds of models walked to showcase nearly 20 designers’ collections.

1. Stacey Martin Lifestyle

The first collection presented on the runway was Stacey Martin Lifestyle. According to one of her Instagram posts, this collection was showcasing “a runway of [her] carnival journey.  [She’s] been a masquerader [for] as long as [she] can remember. The confidence, freedom of expression and pure niceness Carribean culture brings is next level!!!” Shop her looks at staceymartinlifestyle.com, or if you’re in Ottawa, you can shop in store at 145 York Street!

2. Heba Couture

As I sat with my dad, eagerly awaiting the start of the show, I caught a glimpse of @angiesmodels live video models walking out with the most exquisite dresses on the red carpet. The second they stepped onto the stage, I was captivated by the sheer beauty of these colourful yet elegant dresses! The sight of these dresses evoked a sense of admiration and a longing for the opportunity to wear such stunning outfits again — if only I had another prom or fancy gala to wear a dress of the sort… If you have a glamorous event to attend, shop her looks at boutiqueheba.com or if you’re in Ottawa, take a look in store at 1440 Bank St.

3. Hudson’s Bay Bayshore | Baie d’Hudson Bayshore

Hudson’s Bay has always got the cutest, ready-to-wear outfits! Check out this quick video I filmed so you can judge the outfits for yourself! Follow them on Instagram @hudsonsbay or visit in person at a location near you!

4. Kat MacKay Designs

This purse designer is givingggg! Coquette core is so in! The pink purse and bow ties it all together! DM the owner on Instagram at @kat_mackay_designs for a full list of services and designs offered.

5. Allivir League

Who says you can’t be comfy and stylish? Streetwear lets you do exactly that — which is also why it’s gained so much popularity. Check out this designer’s Instagram @allivirleague or his website.

6. Ice Kate

Once again, one of my favourite cores — coquette core. This outfit screams coquette, trendy, and pink — which, if you can’t tell yet, is my favourite colour! This collection is actually a feature of a Richard Robinson Fashion Design Academy graduate! Check out her instagram @ice_kate_ or email her for business inquiries at Kateskateinfo@gmail.com.

7. Zephyr Couture

Once again, this is another feature from a Richard Robinson Fashion Academy student! I felt this outfit was really representative of one of my favourite trends up to date: patchwork — but with a little 90’s/retro vibe. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Follow up on their fashion looks with their Instagram in the image above.

8. Nams Custom Designs

My first reaction: wow! As a personal lover of colourful unique outfits, I loved the use of different materials and flashy vibrant colours in these dresses. Fun outfits like these make my day! Check out more from this designer on their Instagram above, on their website or in store in Ottawa at 2420 Bank St.

9. Atelier Legault

AMTI has graciously provided multiple graduating fashion designers with the opportunity to showcase their collections in this year’s show. Among the standout pieces, my all-time favorite resonates with the chains trend in outfits. In one ensemble, chains elegantly cascade down the model’s arms, seamlessly connecting to her sleeves, while a similar motif adorns her jeans, with chains intricately placed at the knees. Personally, I love how the chains trend defies conventional fashion norms by revolutionizing its traditional restricting association into a symbol of empowerment and self-expression. At the end of AMTI’s spectacular showcase, featuring designers’ creations, models’ strides, and actors’ talents, everyone involved in bringing this event to life had the chance to shine on the runway and take pride in their dedication and hard work. To celebrate, both participants and attendees were invited to an exhilarating afterparty, with the celebration kicking off even before reaching the venue, as dancing and excitement filled the air!

As I wrap up this article, which might just be my longest yet, I want to extend a big thank you to all you trendsetters for sticking with me until the end. Before I go, I’ve got some exciting news to spill. While I’ve hinted at AMTI’s next showcase going international, I’ve kept the location under wraps… until now! Get ready to kick back on the beach, sip on piña coladas (virgin or not), and soak up the sun at AMTI’s 2025 Showcase in Turks & Caicos! If you’re interested in joining AMTI’s family as a model or talent, go on their website and apply to be discovered!
