Escapril Day 6: Where I used to be

Almost a decade ago, I was in Ottawa, dreaming of leaving.
I was tired of knowing the same cafes and the same streets.
My dream was to live that city girl life,
Imagining myself as the main character from The Devil Wears Prada: Toronto version.

I went from being a high school student applying to TMU,
To actually get in and live in Toronto. 
I used to be afraid to wear fashionable outfits in Ottawa,
Now, I wear the flashiest outfits without fear of judgment. 

I used to be homesick, returning to Ottawa almost every weekend,
Who knew years later I’d go on a five-month exchange?
I used to be scared I’d never get an internship, applying day and /.night.
Who knew I’d get accepted to a paid internship?

My internship even extended my contract.
Now, I get to stay in the city and live out my dreams.
For younger me, be ready for an amazing adventure,
Because across the province and abroad, you get to live out your dreams.
